Howdy, folks! I’ve been getting lots of reader questions and comments sent to my inbox, and so I’m beginning a new feature called “Ask A Pixie” where I will answer your queries anonymously as a blog post. Got a question?

Now, bear in mind that I am an herbalist, but not licensed to offer medical advice. What I can do is share experiences, open topics for discussion, and hopefully point you in the right direction to learn more about whatever you need help with, okay? Okay.

I have food allergies; wheat, milk, corn, soy and peanuts. Anything to help me get rid of or to aid me in suffering thru withdrawal while I go back on the diet without these foods!

Oh, honey, I’m so sorry.  That sounds like a doozy of an issue to deal with – and unfortunately, one I feel unable to directly offer advice with.  I’ve only done sugar-free diets and have dabbled with some of the paleo concepts, and I’m no nutritionist.  In fact, I encourage you to seek out help from an allergist or nutritionist if you haven’t yet – someone who can help you to track what you are eating and how your body reacts to it would offer the best kind of help.

It is hard to go it alone. Do a search on the internet for your county and the phrase “food allergy network” or “food allergy resources” and see what you can find.

But in the meantime, you need to eat!  I can offer some good resources for recipes and techniques that I’ve come across to help you out:

This site is specifically for gluten-free cooking and baking recipes that don’t break the bank. I have used their recipes in the past to cook for some gluten-sensitive friends, and the results were great!

Are there any readers out there who have other resources for milk-free, corn-free, soy-free, wheat-free, peanut-free diet, or other resources for dealing with severe food allergies?

Hi I found a recipe for losing weight with Cinnamon and honey. When I drink the liquid in the morning it has a big slimy lump in the bottom. Am I doing something wrong when I make??

Hi, Theresa! I wrote up a whole post just about the cinnamon and honey thing: http://www.pixiespocket.com/2014/03/ask-pixie-2-lose-weight-easy-way.html

Basically, it might be good for you, but it isn’t a magic bullet for losing weight. BUT as I do make a lot of teas and leave them overnight, I can answer your question! Just shake it up in the morning before you drink a cup of it – the honey is heavy and settles when it sits. As long as there isn’t anything growing on it, just shake it up and have some…
